The deficit is too great and weight loss will not be achieved. Going back to the example in number 1, a person needing 1700 but only eating 1000, will not see fat loss. If the body feels starved, it will retain energy in order to maintain proper function. For example: If one’s RMR is 1700 calories, the person could simply begin eating 1500 calories in order to create a caloric deficit. Knowing this number will allow for a methodical approach to creating a caloric deficit without risking undereating. Calculate your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR): Your RMR is how many calories your body burns at rest. Not seeing results because the program isn’t geared to their body type.Misunderstanding how to appropriately gauge progress.Negative internal self-talk based on past failures.Speed of results from exercise and nutrition.Difficulty with trying to adhere to the prescribed nutrition regimen.It’s a higher probability that the person with an Endo body type will meet with frustration from factors such as: This is NOT to say they can’t get some quality advice and instruction from them, however, there is a higher likelihood that this person with an Endomorph body type will not see the equivalent results portrayed by the trainers with other 2 body types. Now take someone who doesn’t fall into those 2 categories, has struggled with weight gain their entire lives (Endo), and is listening to the advice given by a trainer who doesn’t know the differences in bod =y types. They likely gained weight through poor nutrition and inactivity but due to their genetics, they’re able to lose body fat by simply changing their eating and returning to consistent exercise. We also have trainers who naturally have broad shoulders and a small waist, who have been athletic their entire lives. There are trainers who have been slim and fit all their lives who simply have never struggled with fat loss (Ecto). The overwhelming majority of really fit people we see on social media generally fall into the Ecto and Meso body types. (An Ecto-Endo is virtually impossible since someone wouldn’t generally have a hard time gaining and losing weight) Ecto-Meso: can put the weight on but if nutrition and exercise aren’t properly maintained the weight will be lost rather quickly.Endo-Meso: can easily gain weight but may have challenges getting it off, however it won’t be as difficult as it would be for a pure Endo.Endomorph (Endo): Naturally round build, can easily put on weight and has a difficult time getting rid of it.Mesomorph (Meso): Naturally athletic build, can gain weight but can get it off rather easily.Ectomorph (Ecto): Naturally slim body type, have a difficult time gaining weight.There are some body shapes associated with certain body types but we will leave that for another discussion. And keep in mind we are discussing Body “types” not Body “Shapes”. And to make things worse, many of them are following advice from people who don’t know the differences in body types and therefore aren’t well equipped with the information they need, to be successful. So many people who are struggling with losing stubborn body fat, have little to no understanding of their body type. Once we have a better understanding of our body type, we are then more equipped to approach an effective strategy for our nutrition and exercise program. Knowing one's body type is an essential component in developing a strategy for weight loss.
